I love to travel and I love it even more when I get to photograph great people in fun places. Last week we had the chance to spend a couple of days with the Takis family in the Oregon/Washington area and it was so much fun. I really have to thank them for their hospitality, we brought my son Brian with us and they included him and made all of us feel right at home. I definitely need to go back when it is warmer (we froze a little although at least it wasn’t snowing like it was in Utah). We went to so many gorgeous locations that I have no idea what my favorites are and it was really hard to narrow down enough for this slide show. We started in the Japanese Gardens in Portland and then stopped at the Portland Temple. The next day we drove out to Long Beach in Washington and Seaside in Oregon. I loved the tulip farm in Oregon and I wish I could find someplace like that close to home. Before we left they even drove us up to Mt. St. Helens and the Colombia River Gorge. Road trip anyone? Call me if you have someplace fun you would like to have your families portraits taken.

I’ve known Amber and her family for I don’t even want to admit how many years and I met Paul when I photographed their wedding. I started photographing Amber as part of Colette’s Dancing School which her Mom owned at the time and we have been friends ever since. It is sooo cool to be able to photograph Amber’s family now and watch her kids grow. It’s an even bigger bonus when her kids run up and give me a hug at church. We had a lot of fun in the session and as you can see took tons of photos of the kids. If you’re an employee of Colettes or the family of a Colette’s Dancer ask me about the CDS discount on all portrait sessions. If you want autumn colors though you have to hurry and schedule your sessions now. Call 801-967-9106 for an appointment.

We are so lucky here in Utah to have all four seasons to photograph in. I think Autumn is my favorite though, especially when you have a day like this one. The leaves are really starting to change and you can feel that winter is on the way but there’s still something magical about the fall leaves and family portraits. In addition to the traditional family portraits here we tried to have fun and take photos of the family just being themselves. There’s still time if you haven’t made an appointment yet to get your family portraits taken in the fall leaves. Don’t miss out great opportunities like this one.

I thought I was taking summer family photos in August but it turned out that fall colors are a little early this year and we got a little bit of fall color already. In the past month the some areas have really changed a lot and others it’s still greeen. The best fall color though I think will be gone if a few more weeks so if you want autumn color family portraits you need to get those booked now. I did their wedding a few years ago so I was really excited when they called for family portraits. Their baby was sooo cute, laughing out loud a lot of the time. I would love to get her in the studio or out in the garden and just spend an hour or two photographing her laugh. This is another session that you couldn’t just get one. I would need a whole gallery of images to really do this justice. I hope they have a lot of walls.

This was so much fun. I get to play with these tiny babies and I don’t even have to clean up after them. I really love it when I get Mom and Dad with the baby. It’s such a special time for everybody. It’s hard in the sales room though because I know if it were me I would want everything huge all over my house. It’s so hard to decide on favorites, even for the blog I have a hard time choosing just a few. If you have or are expecting babies please call me. You can never go back to these moments and once they are gone, they are gone forever. I would give anything to have photos of us with our kids like this.

I know I have a lot of favorite things to photograph but that’s the fun part of my job is that every one is unique and no photo session is ever the same as another. Anyway, my of my other favorite things to photograph is relationships, expecially relationships between parents and children, in this case a 12 day old baby boy. This little boy was so tiny and cute that of course I got carried away and took too many photos again but who’s counting. Besides I don’t believe you can ever have too many photos. Bring me more tiny babies to photograph, I love it.

Wow, more twins. If I had a hat I would really have to take it off to Mom’s of twins. These two little guys were so cute but I get to play with them for a while and then send them home. I bet they can be a handful. I photographed Patrick and Mickele’s wedding a few years ago so it was great to see them again and get the chance to meet their new little family. I can’t wait to photograph these guys as they get older. With twins you usually either get one awake and one asleep or one happy and the other crying or one grabbing the other’s hair and I think we had a little bit of all that during this session but we did get some great shots of the two together also. It was a lot of work but also a lot of fun. Make sure to leave your comments and tell Patrick and Mickele how cute their family is. Thanks.
